Purpose of Job

The Product Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and managing Daymen (Lowepro, Camera Armor, Always On brands) products from conceptual stages through product life cycle to optimize profit and meet sales, marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives. This position also manages product line strategy, select market research & analysis, and requires close multi-functional collaboration between Marketing, Sales, Design and Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop product and line strategy that grows and maintains DayMen brands market leadership position. Identify product opportunities and threats. Leverage product strategy to support corporate goals. Create value for DayMen customers through product.
  • Effectively plan and manage product life-cycles from introduction through exit to achieve product strategy objectives. Evaluate product success, analyze trends and make product line recommendations based on the study of profitability, strategic advantages, and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Lead the New Product Introduction (NPI) process through all stages and gate reviews of product development. Collaborate across functions to gather information to manage and plan introduction of new DayMen products to ensure successful market launch.
  • Develop new product briefs including information such as competitive positioning, demand forecasts, features/benefits, and recommended pricing. Document directional changes as they occur.
  • Create and maintain product documentation relative to new product development and release including marketing specification sheets, information set-up, product copy, packaging copy, and other materials as needed.
  • Conduct primary and secondary research on market forces such as consumers, competitors, distribution channels and suppliers. Research category and hardware trends. Develop competitor and marketplace intelligence knowledge on category and conduct analyses.
  • Develop strategic product line plans and ROI analyses to ensure that key decisions are based on sound consumer insights and marketplace facts. Formulate pricing strategies.
  • Use financial metrics to evaluate product opportunities and performance.
  • Support development of MarCom, Channel Marketing and Packaging strategies and materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position requires indirect supervision of any personnel offering support on listed projects and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Specific Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Requires high degree of organization, ability to prioritize tasks appropriately while managing multiple projects; ability to manage many types of projects, services and vendors in different manners simultaneously.
  • Requires both high-level strategic thought capability and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be able to deal with multiple changes to information on a daily basis. Ability to prioritize and multi-task under pressure.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must respond effectively to daily requests for information, and solicit information from others. Must have ability to maintain open channels with all departments and executive staff and be a positive, contributing and adaptable member of the team.
  • Requires product management financial literacy and competency.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint Internet and E-mail software.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and/or four years related experience.
  • Consumer global brand product experience with a background managing a multitude of products; distribution network and/or retail experience.
  • Experience in the "cut & sew" industry a plus

Business Travel Requirements

Some business travel may be required to perform necessary job duties; however travel is not expected to exceed 20%.
