Mike Escamilla is pretty much up to any assignment, or dare, or double-dare, for that matter. This legendary BMX rider, stuntman and host – who had a hard time finding a cameraman to go over the edge with him to capture his passions – decided to just do it himself. He will jump out of planes, off bridges and tangle with cobras, all to capture and immerse himself in the subject and adventure. And to get the shot.
A contributing photographer for the New York Times and sponsored GoPro athlete & shooter, Mike travels to every corner of the globe to capture and participate in his passion.
But don't pigeonhole Mike as a photo guy, he has hosted travel adventure shows and currently hosts NBC's World of Adventure. He holds Guinness World Records for stunts on his BMX bike and has helped influence a generation of action sports athletes.
Burbank, California is where Mike is based when he's not running around the planet getting awesome footage.
"It doesn't matter if I'm traveling to the other side of the globe or exploring a waterfall in the San Bernardino National Forest near Los Angeles; if my gear doesn't arrive at the destination in one piece, I can't do my job. Packing my gear up in one of my Lowepro bags is like a being in a trusting relationship…I know rain or shine, smooth or bumpy roads ahead, it won't let me down."
