Melissa Southern is photographer based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her love of the medium started in childhood and brought her to study photography at the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. She works as a forensic photographer and co-directs Naturescapes Photography Workshops with photographer Vinny Colucci. Melissa’s work has been published in guidebooks, catalogs and ads, and she has contributed to Nature Photographer Magazine. Her wildflower, animal and landscape images have won awards at the annual Grandfather Mountain Nature Photography Weekend in Linville, North Carolina..
