"For me photography is to capture the soul and the heart of the country. Photographing is a mix of thoughts and technique. The shoot is the act of materializing of ones feelings. Taking photos is a kind of meditation I need to be free and quiet to find my time to concentrate."
For the past decade, Swiss born photographer Alessandra Meniconzi has documented the lives and landscapes along the ancient trade route of the Silk Road. Navigating the rough terrain on her mountain bike, Meniconzi has captured, in richly colored and carefully composed photographs, worlds seen by few.
Meniconzi has won numerous photo contests, one of which is the Nature's Best Photography contest. Her winning image, Arnastapi, is exhibited at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. She is currently working on 3 book projects.
