“In the course of my worldwide travels, I’ve been bitten by sharks, run over by icebergs and nearly stung to death by sea wasps – yet I went into underwater photography to have fun!

“Antarctica is a special place for me. It’s almost completely untouched. There’s no plankton in the water and it’s exceptionally clear. Diving there is almost like flying, except that it’s very, very cold.”

Norbert has produced fifteen books on marine subjects and an HDTV film, Under Antarctic Ice. He has earned the Antarctica Service Medal of the United States and a Pew Marine Conservation Fellowship.
