"Wilderness is essential to a healthy and prosperous human society, and I'm very concerned about the loss of wild nature. In my work as a conservationist I find it more challenging because in my native language, Spanish, there is no term that expresses the full meaning of the wilderness concept. So, for the last 25 years I've been using photography to bring wild places to urban societies."

WILD 9, the 9th WWC, will convene in November of 2009 in Merida, Yucatan.
