"I always wanted to go to the Olympics as a sports photographer. The Beijing Games were my fourth Olympics. The nice thing about the Games is the diversity of sports you photograph. In the Netherlands I only take pictures of football, or soccer as it is called in the United States. In Beijing I photographed sailing out of a press boat. It was quite tough to make a crisp photo because of the instable position in the boat. However, it made this picture special because of the low angle — it looks like the
boat is sinking with the sailing flags as silent witnesses."
