Whether
capturing a mountain biker accelerating down a narrow singletrack, a
child’s first experience in a tidepool, or a surfer’s emotion who just
had the ride of her life, I love the sense of bringing back something
exceptional. While shooting I have literally been mugged by a giant
Asian elephant in Nepal, attacked by a raucous gang of adolescent
Adelie penguins in Antarctica, and have spent several days living on
the side of a stone monolith several thousand feet off the ground in
Yosemite Valley.
In the end it’s about a lifestyle, a conscious choice to spend as
much time as possible doing what I love. Creating photographs allows me
to explore dramatic landscapes in the company of amazing people. I
believe in balance, emotion, and humor and my goal is to encourage
others to actively seek and find a lifestyle that allows them to live
fully, sharing with others in a sense of wonder and enjoyment of the
world.
