Company Announces Photo Walks and Giveaways to Commemorate 50th Anniversary
Petaluma, Calif. — June 26, 2017 — Lowepro, the trusted leader in gear protection, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer. The company is marking five decades of innovation with a series of special events designed to allow Lowepro fans to participate in the celebration: a hosted global photo walk series on July 15, 2017, and eight exciting sweepstakes opportunities with prize packages designed for the needs of today's content creators.
Lowepro was established in 1967 when mountaineer, photographer and filmmaker Greg Lowe needed a solution to protect his camera and cinematography equipment from the hazards of climbing. Lowe developed the internal frame-backpack and the first lightweight and foam-padded nylon cases to protect his gear in his garage in Colorado. Since then, Lowepro has elevated the way sensitive electronic gear is carried, protected and organized. With several new lines for device-savvy digital consumers, including packs for the urban commuter and the drone enthusiast, the company continues to look forward by addressing the needs of photographers, content creators, and a new generation of digital storytellers.
"Lowepro has always focused on helping creative individuals pursue their passions by making it easier for them to practice their craft through innovative and practical product design," said Tim Grimmer, vice president of brand and product for DayMen, Lowepro's holding company. "For the last 50 years, we have offered designs ahead of the pack to accommodate the latest innovations in photography and now, more than ever, we want this new generation of creative fans to embark on adventure with us."
The company's inside-out design approach continues to serve both customers and the organization well by giving practical, comfortable and customizable solutions to an ever-evolving new generation of content creators and digital ambassadors. Users of everything from smartphones and tablets to action cameras, drones, mirrorless cameras and DSLR kits can find the perfect solution to meet their needs from Lowepro's extensive offerings. Each of the special anniversary activities reflect Lowepro's mission to create advanced products that eliminate boundaries and give people the freedom to go where they want to go with the gear of their choice.
Lowepro teamed up with other creative industry leaders to kick off a series of sweepstakes to fans, each lasting up to two weeks, through the month of October. Each giveaway features gifts from both Lowepro and partners to provide collections of gear for a variety of different content creators. Potential prizes include Lowepro bags paired with hiking gear, drones, conferences passes, photography accessories and gift certificates. Lowepro is also hosting photo walks around the world with some of the best photographers in the industry for a day of learning and exploring on July 15. Participants can capture iconic scenes like the Hollywood sign, landscapes in Banff National Park, sunrise at Emerald Bay in Lake Tahoe, New York City's skyline, charming neighborhoods in Lisbon and more. While on these walks leaders will teach their groups about skills like composition, smartphone photography, how to use natural light to your best advantage and retouching images directly from some of the brightest photographers in the field. During the walks, Lowepro will be handing out a selection of branded goodies along with their newly relaunched Flipside AW II and Nova AW II bags.
